NEW FOREST LEO CLUB
CHARTER & INDUCTION DINNER
DATE: 17/06/2005
LEO: Leadership,
Experience, Opportunity
Friday, 17th June
2005 was a proud moment for Durban South Lions Club, and President
Tricia Smith, when 21 young learners from New Forest High School were
inducted as Leos of the newly charted New Forest Leo Club.
Leos, a project of Lions
Clubs International gives the youth a chance to promote service
activities in their communities, which will help them develop the
individual qualities of Leadership, Experience and Opportunity and will
“unite its members in friendship, fellowship and mutual understanding”.
Leos has been a project of
Lions International for the past 48 years and thousands of young people
have benefited from membership in the Leo Club Programme.
Mrs. Pet, Principal of New
Forest, has fully supported and encouraged the formation of this club
and under the watchful eye of Mrs. Cathy Turner and Lions, Dianne Slater
and Lillie Henderson, the club will undertake various fundraising and
welfare projects, including internal upliftment of certain areas of the
school and old age home visits.
Leo President Jarred Kasaval
heads up the pride, and his drive and commitment will ensure that he
will “make things Happen” – the motto of District Governor Richard
Duncan who conducted the Induction ceremony. Also present, at the
induction, was the Council Chairman, John Whitely, District Chairman Jo
Boes and various other Lion dignatories all showing their support and
commitment to the establishment of Leo Clubs in the 410C District.
